A driver suffering from an unspecified medical emergency caused a single-vehicle accident in Maysville Thursday.

James Harvey, 54, of Lawton, was driving eastbound on State Highway 19 through Maysville around 10 a.m. Thursday when he lost consciousness and drove off the south side of the road between Oak and Williams Streets.

Harvey hit a telephone pole, a street light and damaged porch roof-supports on two houses before coming to a stop against a brick porch-column on the second structure. Both properties are currently unoccupied.

Based on security footage from nearby businesses, Maysville Police Chief Doug Jolley estimated Harvey’s vehicle was traveling at nearly 70 mph when it ran off the road.

According to Jolley, no one was seriously injured in the accident.

Harvey was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
