A Pauls Valley house fire over the weekend destroyed a home on the east side of town.

Pauls Valley firefighters were dispatched to the home at 105 Madison St. around 9:40 Sunday morning.

Pauls Valley Fire Chief Mark Norman said the structure was fully involved when fire crews arrived, forcing firefighters to remain outside as they fought to extinguish the flames.

One person was in the home when the fire broke out. He was able to escape, and Norman said he believed the man was treated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries.

Once the fire was out, fire crews stayed on site for most of the day Sunday to make sure it did not reignite.

Norman said the home was occupied, but utilities, including electricity, had not been connected at the house for some time. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
