Jacky “Jack” Vernon Norvill entered Heaven peacefully on February 9, 2024, at age 87. Born on his family’s farm June 8, 1937, to Frank Vernon and Gussie B. Hardeman Norvill, he was the only son with three older sisters.

Jack attended grade school at the old Davis Schoolhouse and graduated from Davis High School.

Jack graduated and received his auctioneer’s license from Fort Smith Auction School in 1967. In 1968, he attended Blackwood Business College in Oklahoma City and obtained his Real Estate license. He owned and operated “The Norvill Company” auctioneering firm for 57 years. Jack held many auctions all over the states of Oklahoma and Texas, and sold everything from land to farm equipment to estates. Concurrently, Jack was employed as a loan officer in several banks in Pauls Valley, Maysville and Anadarko. Due to his charismatic personality and strong work ethic, his customers always became lifelong friends.

Jack enjoyed being an active member of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Chickasha. While there, he recognized a need to minister to the men at the Resurrection House, their homeless shelter ministry. He started and maintained an early morning Sunday School for men which continued for 15 years. Jack always felt an allegiance to his home church, First Baptist in Maysville, and they supported him with his Sunday School outreach. He gave the first offering for their church’s new family life center. Because of his knowledge of the Word of God and his ability to deliver a comforting message, Jack delivered numerous eulogies at the funerals of his family members and close friends. He was a faithful servant until the very end, and passed from this world listening to his beloved hymns.

Jack loved chauffeuring his red dachshunds around in his golf cart. His favorite pastimes were mowing his yard, no matter the weather, and servicing his pickup weekly.

Jack was most proud of his children. He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Norvill Morris, her husband, Brett and granddaughter, Makayla; his son, Dr. Keith Norvill, his wife, Angela and granddaughters, Kassidy, Kylie, Addison, and Kenedi; great-grandson, Levi; Bonnie Norvill, the mother of his children; five nieces and seven nephews; and special longtime friend, Clara Beck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; uncle, Homer Hardeman; and sisters, Daphine Womack, Mary Lou Sherry and Dortha Adams.

His services, under the direction of John W Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, were held February 17, 2024, at Winans Funeral Home Chapel. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at: www.winansfuneralhome.com.
